The account deletion page is very hard to find, there is no direct access to it on the website or Android app. I was only able to locate it through the iOS app. After submitting the deletion request, your account will be permanently deleted after 15 days. Please note that once your account is deleted, the email address you used previously cannot be reused to register again.
Enter your account password and click on 'DELETE ACCOUNT'.
It is not possible to delete your account. Even if the account is banned, it will still exist, but in the 'Banned' group.

In your profile preferences, click in 'Delete Account' then confirm.
Scroll down and click 'Forget all about me' and confirm.
Login to your account, go to profile, click 'Permanently Delete Account'. Confirm by entering 'I am sure' and click 'Delete Account'.
Just need to check a box that you confirm deletion then submit. You must confirm deletion from the email you receive after submission.
Click on the 'Delete my account' button on your profile page.
Visit the linked page, select 'Delete your account', then click 'Continue'. Choose a reason why you're deleting your account and click 'Continue to delete account'. Finally, confirm your password and click 'Delete account'.
Alipay retains your personal information for at least 5 years after account deletion as required by Chinese financial regulations (《非银行支付机构网络支付业务管理办法》). This includes transaction records, identity verification documents, and account history. After the mandatory retention period, Alipay may delete or anonymize your data. Your Alipay account cannot be recovered after successful deletion. If you previously linked your Alipay to Taobao or Tmall, those accounts will continue to exist but you will need to add a new payment method.
Alipay is one of the most data-rich financial applications in China. It collects extensive personal information including real name, ID number, facial recognition data, bank account details, transaction history, location data, contacts, and browsing behavior within the app. As a licensed payment institution regulated by the People's Bank of China (PBOC), Alipay is legally required to retain financial transaction records for at least 5 years. No. Your Taobao account is separate from Alipay. However, you will need to add a new payment method to Taobao since Alipay will be removed from your account.
Alipay states approximately 48 hours for processing. After submission, you cannot use your account during this period. If processing is successful you will receive a notification.
Yes. Foreigners must follow the same process. Ensure you have access to the phone number registered with your Alipay account. Passport-based verification accounts follow the same deletion procedure.
System says deletion not supported due to active services
Common causes: outstanding Huabei/Jiebei balance, active YuEBao investment, linked bike-sharing deposits, or active insurance policies. Resolve each issue listed in the eligibility check before retrying.
Cannot receive SMS verification code
If you changed your phone number since registering Alipay, you may not be able to receive the verification code. Contact Alipay customer service through the app chat to update your phone number first.
Facial recognition verification fails
Ensure good lighting and remove glasses or masks. If it continues to fail, try again during daytime with natural lighting. Contact customer service if problems persist.
Alipay does not offer a suspend or freeze option for accounts. If you are concerned about security but do not want to permanently delete, you can: remove all linked bank cards, change your login password and payment password, and restrict app permissions on your phone. Some users unlink all services and let the account remain inactive.
